What is a bushing used for?

A connecting rod bearing bushing allows for smooth and efficient operation of the connecting rod, reducing friction during reciprocating motion. Two bushings are mounted on each connecting rod, and their proper condition directly affects the durability of the crankshaft.

BIMET – a Polish brand with over 80 years of history

The Federal-Mogul Bimet company was established in Gdańsk in 1945 as the State Factory of Bushings and has since specialized in the production of sliding bearings. After the economic transformations of the 1990s, the plant transformed into a commercial law company and was acquired in 1998 by the American corporation Federal-Mogul, now operating within the Tenneco group. Despite the global ownership structure, production still takes place in Gdańsk, on Grunwaldzka Avenue.

The scale of production is impressive – the plant produces and sells about 50 million sliding bearings (bushings and sleeves) annually, exported to Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, the USA, India, China, Korea, and Japan.

BIMET bushings are made from bimetal strips produced based on proprietary technologies and licenses. The brand's products have certificates of mandatory quality qualification and homologations from many domestic and foreign manufacturers, including FIAT, IVECO, BMW, VW, AUDI, ŠKODA, VOLVO, DAIMLER, DAF, MAZDA, DEUTZ, JOHN DEERE, PORSCHE, and MAN.

Applications of BIMET bushings

BIMET bushings are primarily used in engines:

• of agricultural tractors (including Ursus C-330, C-360, Massey Ferguson MF3, Zetor),
• construction machinery,
• trucks,
• other vehicles and machines using internal combustion engines equipped with connecting rod and main sliding bearings.

Bushings are available in both nominal size (STD) and undersizes, making it easier to select the appropriate component during engine regeneration.
